Your child's safety comes before everything
Every tutor on FideLearn is checked before any family can see them, every home lesson is tracked from arrival to departure, and every concern is taken seriously the same day.
How we check every tutor
Identity
NIN and BVN, a photo ID, and a selfie holding that ID, matched by our team.
Address
Proof of address from the last three months, in the tutor's own name.
Bank account
Payouts only go to an account in the tutor's own name, checked with their bank.
Qualifications
Certificates checked when tutors upload them, and a referee we may call.
Code of conduct
Every tutor signs our rules for working with children before they can teach.
Reviews
Only families whose child had a lesson can review, and we check every review.
During every home lesson
- The tutor checks inTheir phone confirms they're at your address, and you get a notification.
- The lesson happens with an adult at homeIn a shared room, with the door open.
- The tutor checks outYou're told when they leave, and asked to confirm the lesson happened.
- You're always in controlSay something's wrong and the tutor isn't paid for that lesson while we look into it.
Rules for families
- An adult stays at home for the whole of every home lesson.
- Lessons happen in a shared room (living room, dining table), never a bedroom, with the door open.
- Keep all messages and payments in FideLearn. Never pay a tutor directly.
- The tutor checks in when they arrive and checks out when they leave; you'll be told both times.
- Online, your child joins from a shared room at home, never a bedroom. You can sit in on any class, and classes are recorded for FideLearn's safety team.
- Report anything that worries you with the Report button, any time. If a child is in danger, call 112 first.
Tutors' code of conduct
- I will only teach and talk with families through FideLearn: no phone numbers, WhatsApp, social media or private payments.
- In home lessons, I will teach only where a parent or responsible adult is at home, in a shared room with the door open.
- I will never be alone with a child in a closed room, give a child a lift, or meet a child outside a booked lesson.
- I will not take photos or videos of children, or share anything about them, unless the parent asks in writing in FideLearn.
- I will not give or accept gifts, borrow money, or discuss anything unrelated to lessons with a child.
- I will check in when I arrive and check out when I leave, so the parent always knows where the lesson stands.
- In online classes I will keep my camera on, teach only in FideLearn's classroom (which may be recorded), use only the open class chat, and never ask a child to join from a bedroom or to talk privately.
- I will report any worry about a child's safety to FideLearn straight away, and to the police on 112 if a child is in danger.
- I understand FideLearn may suspend me at once while it looks into any concern, and may share information with the authorities.
Report a concern
Anything that worries you (a message, behaviour, a request to pay outside FideLearn) can be reported from any tutor's page, booking or chat. Reports about a child's safety go straight to the top of our team's list and are acted on the same day. We can suspend a tutor immediately while we look into it, and we work with the police when needed.
Your family's privacy
- We keep only your child's first name and class: never their photo, school or surname.
- Your address is shared only with the tutor you've booked and paid, and only while the booking is active.
- Phone numbers, e-mails and links are hidden in messages, so nobody can contact your family outside FideLearn.
- Tutors' NIN, BVN, bank details and documents are encrypted and seen only by FideLearn's verification team.
